DOCTORAL STUDENT CORNER

As part of PACIS 2026, the AIS Doctoral Student College is delighted to host a series of in-person events exclusively designed for doctoral students attending the conference. Our mission is to create meaningful opportunities and provide dedicated support for doctoral students at every stage of their academic journey. At PACIS 2026, we continue this commitment through a tailored program that fosters networking with faculty members, senior scholars, and peers, highlights emerging doctoral research, and enriches the overall conference experience for student participants.

These events are free for all participants registered for the conference, and no separate registration is required.

Event 1: Welcome Reception and Panel Discussion

Date: Monday, 6th July 2026, 15:30-17:30 Western Indonesia Time (WIB, UTC+7)
Venue: Pullman CDB Thamrin Hotel – The Gallery at 2nd Floor

This event marks the official Welcome Reception for the Doctoral Student Corner. The session will begin with an informal networking gathering, offering doctoral students an opportunity to connect and kick off the week together. It will be followed by a panel discussion, organized in collaboration with the SIG AI group, on the theme: “Preparing the Next Generation of IS Faculty for the AI Age: Research, Teaching, and Academic Identity.”

As Artificial Intelligence (AI) continues to reshape research and teaching, the academic landscape is rapidly evolving. While it is clear that faculty roles will look significantly different by 2035, the long-term implications of AI for scholarly work, pedagogy, and academic identity remain uncertain – particularly for doctoral students and early-career faculty.

This panel will bring together doctoral students, junior faculty, and senior scholars to discuss the opportunities and challenges posed by AI in research and teaching. The session will explore emerging expectations around scholarly productivity, pedagogical innovation, and interdisciplinary collaboration in an AI-driven academic environment. Participants are encouraged to engage in an interactive Q&A session to gain insights and perspectives relevant to their academic and professional journeys.

Date: Tuesday, 7th July 2026, 15:30-17:30 Western Indonesia Time (WIB, UTC+7)
Venue: Pullman CDB Thamrin Hotel – The Gallery at 2nd Floor

This will be the closing event of the Doctoral Student Corner. The session will begin with a keynote address by a senior scholar in the Information Systems domain, followed by an interactive Q&A session that will provide students with the opportunity to engage directly with the speaker and mentors present during the session.

The event will conclude with a casual student networking gathering, offering doctoral students a chance to reflect on their PACIS experience, share insights from the conference, and build lasting academic and professional connections. This relaxed setting will also provide an opportunity to discuss future collaborations and bid farewell to newly formed friends and colleagues.
